Visit The Iowa Wine Trail by traversing the upper Mississippi Valley wine region at Anamosa, Baldwin, Bankston, Clinton, Decorah, Lisbon, Marquette, Fredericksburg, and West Branch. Sample well-crafted wines and ciders in the comfort of excellent and diverse tasting rooms among our heritage farms and vineyards, hilltop chateau, nestled river village, and Italian bistro.
Wineries can be visited almost daily and semi-annual Special Events shouldn’t be missed. At each site a winemaker is likely nearby to answer questions about growing wine using the region’s special varietals. Visitors can view operations, enjoy the grounds, and sample award winning wines and sparkling ciders carrying that special Iowa taste.
Enjoy the region’s designated scenic byways, alpine hills, and cold water streams full of trout. This exquisite hill country was spared recent glaciers thus leaving soils, slopes, caves and aquifers well-suited for irrigation, drainage, circulation, and sun to produce the best grapes.
The area is adorned with landscapes as selected by Artist of the Heartland, Grant Wood. We know you would enjoy the hospitality of the trail’s bed & breakfast partners, so consider staying the weekend.

April Wine Trail Event
Congratulations to the following two lucky wine trail travelers. They were drawn for the April Wine Trail event door prizes, which was one bottle of wine from each of the participating wineries. The wines were shipped directly to the winners.
The drawing winners are:
Jim Landgraff from Pella, IA and Dawn Carstensen of Charlotte, IA. Each winner visited the eight/nine wineries and completed the survey questions.
The Iowa Wine Trail draws door prize winners from persons who have attended the trail event, completed the evaluation on the back of the ticket, and turn them in at the last winery that they visit. One drawing is held from those persons who visited all nine wineries. The other winner is drawn from the total of all tickets turned in at the last winery visited. (Hint- Your odds of being drawn are greater if you visit all nine wineries!)
Plan now for the November 2009 Weekend Event to be held November 7-8, 2009.
